A Home Recipe for Cleaning your Silver Jewelry

When I was a little girl my mother had an old home recipe for cleaning her silver flat wear and silver jewelry. It was simple and took less than a half hour to do.
(Actually, it takes me a little longer than Mom, she is so much more organized than I am). Now I know that many of you buy silver tarnish removers and jewelers cloths to polish your silver, and that works fine and makes your silver sparkle and shine, it is also a longer process than the one I am recommending. If time is of the essence and you are in a hurry or for that day when you can’t find your silver cleaners, here is the formula for using simple household items found in your kitchen. I call it my 5 step plan.
Step 1: Find a glass bowl or baking dish.
Step 2: Line it with aluminum foil.
Step 3: Put the silver jewelry in the bowl – on top of the foil.
Step 4: Take a large tablespoon of baking soda and spread it over the jewelry.
Step 5: Next boil enough water to cover the items in the bowl, pour it over the jewelry.
Wait about fifteen minutes and remove the items and rinse them in cold water. Don’t dry them with a towel, but allow them to air dry. The results? Beautiful shiny jewelry you’ll be proud to wear.

Is there any way to remove hardened acrylic water from sterling silver chain?

I have 20 feet of sterling silver chain that I accidentally exposed to acrylic water while making a floral arrangement. I didn’t realize it at the time, and now the chain is all crimped and curled. Is there anything I can soak this silver chain in to get rid of the acrylic water? 20 feet of sterling silver snake chain is not cheap these days, and really hate the thought of throwing that money away!
Electrolytic Cleaning Solution:
Ingredients:
¼ cup baking soda
¼ cup salt
¼ cup liquid dish soap
½ gallon of water
Equipment:
Large pot
Aluminum foil
Plastic spoon
Stove top
colander or strainer
towel
Take a large pot, such as a spaghetti pot, and completly line the inside with aluminum foil. Pour all of the ingredients into the pot and stir with your plastic spoon. Collect the sterling silver jewelry you want to clean, and count each item so you know the total number you put into the pot. Place them into the solution and spread them out on the bottom of the pot so they don’t touch each other.
Bring this to a low boil for a few minutes. Then turn off the burner and let it sit for another couple of minutes. Then using the colander or strainer, pour out the solution. Rinse well with cold water making sure that all salt is rinsed off your silver. (Salt will eventually corrode metal.) Count your items as you place them on a towel to dry. Make sure you’ve accounted for all your jewelry before you throw away the aluminum. It will be dirty because the oxides on your jewelry were transferred to it. Your sterling silver jewelry should now look like new.
Super Cleaner
In an eight ounce container (pickle jars work well), combine one inch of cleaning detergent (Top Job or Mr. Clean), one inch of dish washing liquid, and one inch of ammonia. Fill the rest of the container with water. Shake well. Use your microwave to heat up solution slightly or put in an old pot (you don’t use for food) and simmer on stove top. Place jewelry (silver or gold) into solution and let sit for about ten minutes. Remove from solution and rinse with water. That’s it.
Both these cleaner work well. For silver, I prefer the first recipe since it uses ingredients most people have around the house, and it’s not as toxic as the second recipe so it’s safer if you have children or animals around your house. The Super Cleaner can also be used for cleaning your jewelry projects in between buffing compounds so your polishing wheels don’t get contaminated or caked up.

My dog will start taking prednisone for a mast cell tumor, stage 2, had surgery to remove tumor but cancerous cells were in the tissues, so didn’t completely get all the cancer but did not travel any place else. The surgery was done on March 31st. My dog haven’t started taking prednisone yet, can the cancer be spreading now? My main question is, I’m trying desperatly to change her diet, I’m giving her canned evo dog food.
I was trying to have her eat Orijen dry food but my goal is to get her to eat the raw diet. In everything she eat, it’s nutritional with antioxidants and vitamins, and herbal things as well. I have fish oil that I give her from the vet she takes 1 time a day and I have a liquid multivitamin called Fidonutrients. I want to build her immune system but can I over due it with everything I’m giving her. I even have pet water called Coral Pet Water that suppose to introduce a natural antimicrobial in the pets diet. Colloidal silver which has been proven to destroy bacteria
and yeasts in diluted solutions, but not harmful to living cells. I just want to know what can I do as for as vitamins and her food to make sure her immune system is strong without giving her excess vitamins that can hurt her? Thank You for your suggestions and comments to anyone who responds.

My vet told me that no the cells wouldn’t be spreading between the time of surgery and the start of the prednisone,

Colloidal silver, how can we tell if the bottle we bought is genuine?

Just bought some colloidal silver for our daughters molloscums but the bottle arrived without a seal around the cap and worse still, the water smells musty..
Does anyone know of a simple test we can perform to authenticate the liquid as genuine colloidal silver and not just musty water?

I buy a brand called Natural Path Silver Wings. It is 500 ppm colloidal silver and it is quite brown. I get it at my local health food store. It has a faint metallic smell but not musty. I looked all around the web (You probably did too) but didn’t find any "simple test" for silver. There are "ionic" silvers out there that are clear but colloidal silver is supposed to be yellow or gold or brown, depending on the parts per million.
That’s the only test I know of.

Just like the question says what’s the best way to take it for sinus problems? Should i drop some into my nose
? Use my neti pot saline wash and drop some colloidal silver in it? Or just take it by mouth like the bottle says?
There’s a lot of debate about this (mainly because of the side effects and benefits of misuse), but the most ideal is to follow the recommendations on the bottle. You could put it directly in your nose and you might get a better effect… but you’re also increasing the likelihood of turning your skin blue or gray (Argyria… basically from excessive or improper use of Silver).
It’s better to just take a spoonful orally as the bottle recommends and boost your immune system and use your Neti Pot daily with a saline solution to fight the sinus problems. Good luck and I hope I helped!

I have a sterling silver chain and I want to clean it in water with dawn will that mess it up in any way?
Don’t clean it with water, it’s going to get even darker, there are different products to clean jewelry, like cloths (for sterling silver they are good when the jewelry is not very dirty) , concentrate cleaners (love them, just follow the instructions about the time that you have to leave your jewelry in the cleaner) and the little sonic cleaning machines that are for all kind of jewelry.
